What MJ, 50 Cent And Paris Hilton Know About Marketing That You Don't
By Fabian TanToday I want to talk about what gets tongues wagging...
Controversy
When Michael Jackson bleached his skin to a pale color, the world talked. His album sold like ice cream in a kindergarten.
When 50 Cent was marketed as a gangster who received 9 gun shots and survived, his fame rocketed to red hot levels.
There is also the ongoing saga of one Britney Spears. Whatever she do gets attention. The lady can't get any peace! But her album sales are skyrocketing.
The truth is: "Entertainment sells". And it sells like crazy! Just look at the top sellers on Ebay...Ipods, PS3's, Xbox's. It's all entertainment related. Entertainment is the world's biggest industry.
If you want to succeed massively in business, find some way to differentiate yourself.
Find a 'selling point' and emphasize that in all your marketing materials - your business cards, your posters, your billboards, your banners, your logo and so on and on.
Entertain and even invite some controversy. If you are boring, you are forgotten easily. It doesn't have to be anything negative like receiving 18 shots to your midriff or whatever, but do something that people will talk about to make yourself stand out in the market. Become a larger than life personality.
If you don't, your competition will. So start being different, start standing out. Make yourself known in your market.
